Chahar-Mahal Bakhtiari celebrates Iran’s Snow City Festival

TEHRAN, Feb. 12 (MNA) -- Iranian sculptors gathered in Chelgard near Kuhrang on Tuesday to hold the second edition of Iran’s Snow City Festival.

Chelgard in Chahar-Mahal Bakhtiari Province is known as Iran’s city of ice because of its one-meter-high snowfalls in winter. It is also the location of the source of the three rivers Karun, Zayandehrud and Dez.

Head of the tourist office of Chahar-Mahal Bakhtiari Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts department Rashed Abbasi told IRNA that 200 artists will be participating in the event and they will be divided into 33 groups.

He added that the festival will be organized to incorporate the four themes -- “historical statues”, “design and architecture”, “luminaries” and “abstract”.

Abbasi went on to say, “Each team will be given 100 square meters of the six-hectare land dedicated to the event and a time limit of four days in which to create their snow sculptures.”

The works will be judged on the last day of the festival by three renowned sculptors, he concluded.
